£500 or so.

I paid £420 which included: Full service, all valves re shimmed and Clutch rebuilt including new rod

I'd say £420 was very cheap. Maybe if there were no "extras" at all, but I always find that new brake pads, new sprockets, or, perish the thought, new opening rockers :( are needed.

I've just had a look at my last major, done about a year ago. Pure "service" parts (oil, filters, cambelts, spark-plugs etc) came to £157. Basic labour charge was £170 so yes £420 sounds plenty. But at the same time, I also had the radiator stripped and cleaned, the headstock bearings replaced, one new rocker fitted etc etc.

I won't tell you what the final bill was :) but I'm not for a moment saying it wasn't justified, it certainly was.

Where are you getting it serviced? I use louigimoto, who's just outside Bristol, and is a top man. Just a nice little run from Plymouth. :)

As for what's involved, it's all in the Haynes manual. Do get one if you haven't already. Even if you don't see yourself doing much DIY servicing, it's still twenty quid well spent.

Last one was £515 all in at TecMoto.
One before that was £595 at Bob Hills, official dealer, in Hertford.

My mate has just had one done on his 02 996 BP and we were talking about this last night..

Rather than have the 12000 service he had the 6000 service done (oil, filters, fuel filter, air filters, shims, chassis bits, cluctch stripped and cleaned, brakes checked, TPS reset, emmisions checked (think they called it CO's?) charging system checked, battery load tested etc.... but 'upgraded it' to include replacement belts. (no extra labour as they should take them off to inspect them anyway!) so just the cost of the belts (about £60 i think)

what isnt done... Replace brake and clutch fluid and replace fork oil. Which is a waste of money at 10,000 miles anyway.

cost £425 including the VAT (which dealers always quote excluding! :(

Official dealer, book stamped, workshop report sheet with all the things measured and recorded.

They found and replaced a blown tail light bulb, and, it now runs perfectly (turns out it had the wrong chip in it! which they spotted after the test ride, £35)

i'm sure others dont like paying for the 12k one when this seems to be perfect ????

not got a bike yet chaps, just that there was 1 on ebay going cheap, but its jue the 12,000 mile service at any time, so was just wondering the cost...

PDL 24-Dec-2005 12:56

£420 was just the full service, done by ex BSB mechanic 'Ducati John' this year I have also spent £220 on a new chain, sprockets (14, 40) and quick release carrier. £50 on new pads, fitted them myself.

ok folks looks like i may have a nice 748 lined up. it will need a 12,000 mile service as its on 11,700. what i would like to now is should i get it done asap our wait till this march april ish as i wont be riding it much through the winter just the odd day our 2 here and there to work if its dry,

antonye 03-Jan-2006 12:36

Try phoning some local places and see if they can fit you in - the start of spring/summer is usually their most busiest times for servicing as everyone wants it done before summer! Get in there now and get it done while you still can.
