Help Needed, Dead Duc Ok folks, needing some advice, bike's been off the road for a wee while now in one of my sheds. last time it fired up it ran for a wee while and cut out, I assumed it was just needing a service. Fast forward to yesterday, new battery, cranks it over, no go. No sound of the fuel pump priming. Replaced the wee black relays under the tank. No sound of the fuel pump priming. Removed the pump. 12v, pump is pumping. doesn't seem to be getting 12v to the pump, getting power to the pump fuse. Any ideas? I've reached the limit of mine  |
check the wiring in the kill switch and also the block connector at the headstock look for any burnt out terminals etc just an idea |
Problem solved(well, identified anyway) it's the wiring from the connector to the pump, must be broken at the seal in the bottom of the tank, Wee trip to Ducati Glasgow for a price tomorrow  |
probably going to cost a bit, same one is used on other Ducatis, I take it is the one with the black 2-pin connector that goes into the pump |
Yes, and yes, basically £130:mad: Got a wee plan to try first tho :) |
I repaired one on my 750SSie Minitwin about ten years ago, I managed to dig away a bit of the potting compound and solder a new wire on to the damaged one |
Well, that was a resounding failure, drilled out the wire from the epoxy, dropped some solder down in, new bit inserted, more solder, new wire, voila! It works. Put it back in, the **** plastic nut fractures as I tighten it :( So my wallet is now crying |
I'm sure there was a place in the States that made replacement nuts from alu just for this purpose? Might be worth a search to see if you can find a replacement first before a whole new unit! |
