996 Air Filters - Are they any good?

I have just removed the airfilters in my 996 and both of the air boxes have a fair amount of grit in them. This is under the airfilters where in theory only air that has passed through the filter should be.

My question is - is this a common occurance?

Here is a pic showing the grit which is the light colours around the screw holes.

Cheers
Simon

Stock filters aren't up to much tbh. Better if oiled, but a much better option are the pipercross replacements. Straight fit, seal much better and do what they're supposed to. Work out cheaper as well.

Yes Simon. I use them quite a bit as they're a better deal on services vs. stock
