Headlight Fogging up ?
 

My Headlight keeps fogging up ! anyone no how to stop it. It all works ok just looks all white and smoky.

"they all do that sir!!!" :D but seriously some people on the board take them apart and clean them out carefully or you could do it the lazy way and ride round with your main beam on till it dries out :o

Take the headlight apart and use window cleaner. It's not moisture, it's outgassing of heated plastic parts caused by the heat of the halogen lights - similar to what happens when the sun's heating produces a cloudy film on the inside of the windows of a new car.

By taking them apart do you mean removing the actual lens. If so you will have to replace the lens using silicon or a similar sealing compound, this will outgas and could cause the misting. Interested to know how window cleaner prevents the outgasing. Will it not just mist up again once the lights get warm. I find just levering the rubber seal off slightly when it is dry soon clears the lens. If you ride in the wet or high humidity the moisture is drawn back as the lights cool. the only way to truly stop it is to either have an hermetic seal or make the airflow through the light freely.
Now I've got a clear lens I just need to make it point to the left.

This old chestnut of 748 - 998 models getting misted headlights.

This old thread came up on the search but doesn't give a conclusive solution.

I seem to recall seeing a thread that said use Acetone to clear the misting but as anyone knows, if acetone comes into contact with clear plastic components it can dissolve the plastic.

Also I have seen someone saying ethanol is a good way to do it. But as with any solution, how do you get it in (particularly where you have the projector lens) and get it out and dry again?

Grateful for expert advice.

I had a similar problem with my car headlights after driving through some flood water the other week. Took the rubber cover off that makes the headlight a sealed unit and drove round with the lights on for a few days. The moisture cleared and the lights are good as new again.

The problem highlited here is not the same, as yours was moisture!
