Tyre : Puncture ..? repair or replace

Got a slow puncture on the rear tyre..found the hole...very very small in middle of the tread.....its a nearly new tyre dammit.

repairable n safe..or is it a new tyre,>?

thoughts and advise please

i repaired a tyre on my XJR1300, rode it for a further 2k and took it over 100mph regularly. second puncture in a different part of the tyre finally killed it. repairs are only supposed to be very temporary and max 100mile and 30 - 40 mph. depends how confident you are with the repair.

Phil,

I picked up a ss with a repaired puncture in the middle a little time ago and put the wheel on my bike and rode it without realising it had a repaired puncture and found it fine! Im not sure I would repair something like your R1 tyre though...

Book it in with Mark at Ride in. He's repaired Crusts and i've seen him do 150mph on that.... i had repairs on a few tyres and have carried on for the duration of the tyres life.

If you've got £120 odd quid to burn then replace it. If you live in the real world then a repair is prefectly fine.

Some shops won't do repairs or they try and tell you that its illegal to repair certain tyres. Not true, they are just getting out of potential liability issues or they would rather flog you a new tyre.

I'd get it reapaired and then i wouldn't give it a second thought.

Have you ever seen a proper repair plug? They are huge, there is no way it will come out.
