749s ecu reusable?? thinking about selling the 749s. if i take off the 54mm termis and ecu and put the bike back to standard will i have to have the tps reset with the original ecu. also will the performance ecu be any good on another bike e.g to sell with the 54mm system? |
As far as i know once the ECU has been red keyed to a bike it cannot be used on another, if you refit your old ECU then i would imagine to run at optimum your TPS would have to be reset. TBH i'm just giving you my opinion and you would be better off speaking to Nelly or another dealer who posts. |
Swannymear is probably right re the ECU. Once coded then it can't be used with another key or clocks. These people may be worth speaking to as they may be able to recode ECU's http://www.bluestreak.co.uk/bs/ |
cheers folks |
Hi Glyn, I think if the ecu has been assigned to the clocks then it won't work with any other. When I put my termi on my 749 I didn't assign the ecu but when I sold the exhaust to red seb he still had problems. BTW why are you selling the 749? |

even had a look at the honda cbf1000gt and the bandit 1250 gt still not really made my mind up though. i had a great day out on the st2 last saturday though, left the house in the morning rode to and around wales then home in time for a quick pint down the pub. i had a lot more fun than i do when i go out for an intense 80 mile blast on the 749 |
have to say, any of the ST's are a hard act to follow. I have been looking myself, if I was to get rid of the 999, but I have made a few mods and will see how it goes |
I know what you meen Glyn, I too am thinking of a two seater, as John is now of an age to ride pillion. But having just arrived back last night from a four day trip to the ring, I think I'll just have to find the funds for two bikes :D |

Our Lizzie loved it on the back of that bike. She does'nt mind the Hyper, but found she was more comfortable on the Multi. The early models are becoming really good value for money now.I wish I could have kept mine. Sorry to hijack the thread.:) |
