888 Strada Shock Anyone got a good Strada shock laying around they don't want? Both upper and lower bearings have gone in mine and it appears the lower bearings are not available from anywhere. My mechanic bought in a correctly sized lower bearing from the US, but it turned out not to be hardened, and hence not up to the job. Would also consider a shock with a failed upper bearing, if the lower bearing and the rest of the shock was ok. Eddie |

There's a place in Bradford called UK Suspension which fits hardened inserts with taper roller bearings for around the £30-40 mark.....I had an SS shock done there and it was a good job! My 851 shock bottom mounts gone (same shock as 888) and I was going to do the same thing....cheaper than a new shock methinks..... |
I could have a good condition showa from an 888 strada BUT it seems the SP4 ohlins i have bought dosen't fit. Mounting bushes are to big - 12mm instead of 10mm and it is 10mm shorter overal than the showa even with the ride height adjuster (should it have one?) fully extended. Also the shoulder snags on the rocker arm, when we (well Jame at Set up Engineering) tried to fit it. Can anybody help me out here - is it possible to fit an SP4 Ohlins straight on to a strada or have I been sold a pup? If there's a way then I can pass on the showa to Eddie B. |
My concern about getting a second hand shock and cannabilising it for the bushes is chances are an 888 one will be a minimum of 12 years old. I've got 2 and both are worn the same way to a greater or lesser extent. Unless the one you buy is NOS or has been refurbished it'll more than likely be on the way out too.... I reckon you'd be way better taking it to an engineering shop or a suspension specialist and getting them to sort it properly. It surely couldn't be that expensive/difficult a job...? Failing that what about getting the dealer to search for a bottom bush for a carbed Monster. They're basically the same aren't they? |

I believe only something like 5 were ever officially imported. I have someone who can do the work, it's sourcing the right spec lower bearing that is proving difficult. I have the word out for a M900 unit, but there aren't a huge amount of monsters in NZ either. By far the vast majority of Duke's you see around are SS's, followed by 9xx & 70's desmo models. I'd be happy if I could find a monster unit. |

Hagon Shocks Does anyone on the board know anything about the quality of Hagon shocks? I can source these from NZ direct for a fairly good price, but I have no idea what sort of quality they are. |
