Which 888 stand gives front/rear lift?
 

Hi guys

I'm looking for a stand (lift) which will enable me to raise both ends of my 888. I'm needing to remove both the forks and the rear shock, in order to have them sent away for rebuild.

Can anyone recommend one?

The Abba stand is a personal favourite. Chock under the engine and you can get both ends stripped bar taking the swingarm off completely.

If you have a welder,you could knock up one of these.

Yes, the great strip-down of my bike is about to begin. I've waited since January for a garage (since having my offer to buy this one accepted: http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/sh...ad.php?t=25679) (The seller has lost the Deeds though, so I'm still waiting..!)

However, I can wait no longer, so the job's going to be started at my sister's place. I'm just aiming to strip it down to the bare bones, and store all the loose bits in various bags/boxes around my flat. I've hardly room to turn around as it is, so it's gonna be fun! Hopefully, I'll have it back together for the spring.

ps. I'm tempted to send it to Moto Rapido for one of these 'Doctor Desmo' major services (where just about everything is sorted), but they're over 300mls from me. It'd cost me a couple of grand I expect (inc. transportation) but it'd be a darn sight easier.

I think that if my SP ends up looking like yours does now, i would consider the job done and be pleased with the result.

You'll have to keep it in your front room after the rebuild !

Are you having the suspention softened in any way?

They seem to be quite firm and i have heard of folk who have changed the springs for road use.

The suspension on mine had already been softened some time before I bought it. The rear shock wears a black spring now, instead of the original yellow. I think it suits my weight ok though, since it feels softer/more supple than my Strada was. Just needs a refresh now, since it's leaking front & rear.

I aim to have the frame freshly powder coated/engine serviced & cleaned/pipes & fasteners polished etc. (Then the search is on for some mint carbon cans).

I've just ordered one of these Abba stands - so work should begin at the weekend. (Now, how do I tell my sister I'm soon gonna colonize her garage!?)
