Silverstone GP 3 July 2006

Hi All

Last minute thing, decided to do the GP circuit with come mates who had pre-booked - in the blistering heat (over 30c I think)...I'm sure I was melting!!!

Anyway, went in the fast group...
1st session, decided to take it easy as never done this track, and wanted to conserve my energy for the day - everyone was obvously on race pace from the off :-(
2nd session, started to get my head into gear and work on my lines, still a few passing, but felt a bit more confident. Someone tried a pass on me into club - no chance buster, so he takes the grass to the right at god knows what speed and comes back on, eventually, the other side of club. That one slowed me down BIG TIME!!!
Session 3 & 4 before lunch appeared to be my best, running 2:23s and 24s and guys out there leaving me standing - they were very quick!!!
After lunch, was doing 26's having some fun riding with a 250gp bike.

On a final note...
As a whole, I really enjoyed the track, although very tiring (probably the intense heat) - lots of twisties, which I love, and what is this chicane at the end for!!! - what a waste of time. I just couldn't get it right, each time I exit the big boys are just outdragging me.

Great track - although I do prefer Donnington and Rocky!!!

Regards
Les996 (need a faster bike for those straights)

Les, It's a great circuit spoilt only by that chicane at the end. I would have said it was my favourite until I did Oulton Park last week

Cheers

Haven't tried that one yet Martin - maybe next on the list!!!
Did you time yourself at silver GP - I thought I was doing OK, but some of the guys out there were seriously fast...

Les :-)

I'm a Silverstone fan, living down the road helps!

Wide, fast circuit, lots of different lines and variety, good facilities etc.

Bridge to start/finish is now OK, including the chicane, great to charge at it around outside of peeps, then stop/go, all good practice.

Im there tomo in the ****ing rain....

Hi Chris

Just couldn't get it right - tended to go in on the inside, with the front chattering like made, then not having enough exiting, and being slaughtered coming onto the straight - must be losing at least a minute here :-)

No, haven't timed myself - don't think I can fit a calander on the bike :(

The last chicane sucks though, it's the one corner that I really struggle with, my bike is a real handful in it, just doesn't want to turn properly, and my gearing is still standard and far too high for coming out of it.

Don't worry about the grass at Club either - there's loads of grip on there, I've had a couple of trips across that...

Cheers
Martin

Try this link...

Just right click and 'save target as' should do the job!!!

Must admit, he put me off a bit when I saw him on that side :-/
