Multistrada 1200 - who is buying one ?

I know Monty has money on one, and so do I.

Just interested to hear who else has too, and maybe which spec your going for. MCN are reporting orders are flying in to the dealers, mainly for the S-Touring.
Apparently they get allocated in date of deposit order (someone from ducati Glasgow put money down a year ago, and is expected to get the firast one).

I've spoken to my dealer this morning and Ducati have requested details of their confirmed orders (spec, colour, date of deposit, etc), so now is the time to put your money down if you haven't already.

I'll be getting an S-Touring, probably in white (undecided though, could be red  ).

couchcommando 16-Nov-2009 17:03

yup ordered a red 1200S touring from JHP :)

Now that's interesting-it was confirmed to me by Ducati that I had the first one-put the money down the day after the dealer meeting when they were shown the prototype..................

John-Black touring for me-probably with some carbon bits.

John W 16-Nov-2009 17:36

John, my apologies.
i've just re-read the article (link below), and it looks like the order is with Ducati coventry. I missed the fact the second quote was from them and not Glasgow.

I will definitely test ride one probably late summer next year but it isnt what I wanted from Ducati. I know you cant keep everyone happy but I waited for a new ST but when I found out it wasnt going to happen and a redesigned Multistrada was the only option I bought a K1300S.

My guess is my next Ducati will be a 848 or 1198 and a Beemer for touring.

That said I hope Im wrong and the new stroodle is an awesome tourer

I need to test ride one first, being a bit short in the leg departmet to see if I can reach the ground.
Then I may sell the 996 and the Multistrada and just have One Bike that will please her!!

Yep
"One customer put his deposit down over a year ago – before anyone had even seen the bike – and he will be getting the first bike in the UK."

That'll be me then.

You old soothsayer and visionary John :)

keith_mann1959 19-Nov-2009 18:09

So
Selfish me, who is going to be trading in an st4s for one. I'm thinking there might be a few of those around once the new multi turns up. That will do me for a bit of continental riding.

John W 19-Nov-2009 21:53

I think I will be Keith.
04 St4S ABS in senna colours, with lots of kit, and a few miles too (~38k).

I'm tempted to keep it incase I don't like the 1200, but it has to go.
I've yet to speak to the dealer to get their tradein price, and do have a guy from work interested to hear what they have to say.
Give me a pm if you wish and I'll keep you posted if you really are interested.

keith_mann1959 19-Nov-2009 22:11

A senna coloured version would interest me . Mileage is a little bit of a concern to take to Italy fully loaded with wifey.
I had a senna version until last year and sold it to monty's mate instead of selling my 998s. I actually sold the wrong bike and regret it now and have just sold the 998 anyway .
I will keep a look out for it
Thanks
keith

Dukerob 20-Nov-2009 09:01

think I might finally after a few aborted attempts think about selling the SPS and the Multi and get me on of these ;)

Multistrada 1200

I put my money down back at the beginning of Oct.... on a black 'S' touring. Was a toss up between the black and the red.... but leaned towards the black. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh at the NEC next week.... hope I've chosen the right colour !!

Sniffy 15-Mar-2010 07:31

S Touring in Black

Accessories? A hacksaw for the centrestand :D

John W 15-Mar-2010 09:19

 you and me both on the hacksaw ;)

Will be interesting to hear what you think of it compared to your current tiger, given that the tiger is undoubtedly one of its rivals.

Sniffy 16-Mar-2010 22:10

The Tiger is a great bike and there will be some things i'll miss about it but time and motorcycle technology move on and the MTS12 has got me salivating. Whether it's £5k better than a Tiger, I don't know but I will find out :)

Loz ST2 16-Apr-2010 15:26

Just come Back from a business trip to Brembo Italy, and guess what they had in the test work shop a nice red 1200 Multistrada. I managed to get a good look around it, very nice but they would not let me take it home with me. :(

scwirral 21-Apr-2010 02:12

Got a deposit on a Red S Touring at Ducati Woverhampton as of Today. Delivery expected May / June.:)

NormanBurrows 21-Apr-2010 14:22

Well chaps, I know where the world's best 'previously cherished' example resides. In fact, the way this machine has been looked after borders on the perverted. As of today, she has sneaked past 58, 800 miles but looks as if it's a tenth of that. Paintwork refreshed last year. Never needed rockers because the owner knows how to start engines carefully. Over two supertanker loads of Shell Ultra 4 have passed through her crankcases since new in May 2003. We don't like dirty oil do we? She does not use any discernable amount of oil and not much petrol either.

Nelly has serviced her religously since nearly new and I'm sure will endorse her if you want a 2nd opinion. MS1200 lust forces reluctant sale.

Reasonable offers might be considered.

drdaveboy 21-Apr-2010 18:51

pleased to say ive got my deposit down on a 1200 base with abs in red just got to sell my 59 plate hyper

Whele 22-Apr-2010 10:01

Sunday evening, leaving Monza and two new Multi's rode in the opposite direction, both white, they looked good but very quiet exhaust note.

lapman 25-Apr-2010 22:55

Had a go of a demonstrator on saturday. very impressed indeed. Decided to open up the 999R on the way back and realised what I would be missing.

I am seriously considering swapping to the Multi. Just have to wait and see if the sensible part of the brain takes over completely !

Digger 07-Aug-2011 19:10

Hello folks, I'm back

Been looking at a serious replacement for my well-used but much-loved Buell, which has taken me on many an adventure these past few years.

A chat to Monty at Cadwell the other day, and a perch on his 'strada had me making a call to Mr Jagger's Toy Emprorium.

Long story short, had a long and rewarding test ride on Saturday, absolutely loved it, and I've ordered mine. It's an S in red ('twould be rude not to) with Termi, luggage & satnav. It really is the bike I've been waiting for. Should be picking it up next month, already planning next year's trips with a bit more confidence. Exactly ten years since my first arrival here with a new 748R, I've been in the naughty corner but pleased to be on a proper bike once more.

Thanks, Monty

Looking forward to catching up with old pals again.

It was good to catch up with you too Digger-told you that you would want one if you rode it didn't I?

I've joined the Multi clan.

Put a deposit on a red 1200S sport yesterday.....:D

Added panniers, top box, touring seats, heated grips, keyless fuel cap, full termi system......

So now have to sit on my hands till the 1st of March :(

AndyW.Inuk 14-Jan-2012 02:23

The wait will be worth it! :D ..........and at least the weather should be better by then ;-)

Digger 18-Jun-2012 21:31

So, the 'strada's settled in, I'm just back from a 2420 mile run through France to the Catalunya GP, some Pyrenees fun, San Sebastian & Bilbao. One niggle is the bloody exhaust valve. I'm running a Termi shorty carbon end can, and wonder what my options are for a system which avoids the valve altogether.

It's stuck shut a few times over the winter, and just once on the trip, on the last day leaving San Sebastian. Sorted it at the roadside with a squirt of chain lube, but I'm not prepared to live with the possibility that it might shut down and dramatically reduce the horses without notice.

Anyone have any suggestions? Any recommended local benders who've made a full system for the 1200S?
