ST4S / 996 Harness compatability

After what looks like another harness faliure on the 996 I am considering buying a new one. There is one on the bay for an ST4S which is the same motor as the 996. Hard to tell from the picture if it's completely right. Just wondered if anyone has any more info on the matter?

Neil

Are you running the twin injectors Neil

Certainly am. I had a problem last year which turned out to be a break somwhere in the ecu harness. After crashing at brands the bike developed the same symptoms. I changed all the usual stuff to no avail. Since bought a another used full harness and built a complete new (to me) bike which will be tested at Oulton on Wednesday. I have read about running on two injectors with a 748 chip?
I think the general age of the wiring plays a big part in breaking down.

Would you be allowed to use shower injectors off a 748R, and run a 59M ECU as used on the 2001 996R, not sure exactly what your rules say about whats allowed

They don't say you can't. Sounds like a sales pitch coming my way. ;)

No sales pitch, just that the early systems are limited by the early type injectors with the Green ones only flowing 270cc/min at 3 bar, hence the need to go to two of them on the 996 to keep up with the fuel requirement at wide open throttle. The later Pico injectors come with a wide variety of fuel flows at 3 bar of pressure. Brown band ones as used on 620s are 330cc/min and the Yellow band ones are 490cc/min. So can easily provide enough fuel without having to run the duty cycle to long putting reducing the load on the electronics. A 59M ECU is a lot smaller and lighter than a 1.6M or a P8 so suffers less from vibration and can be used with a newer harness.
My option if allowed would be 748R Injectors and throttle bodies with the restriction bored out, a 59M ECU programmed to suit and use a modified Monster 620 Harness
