Fitting exhausts....grrrr.....
 

Having had my 748 two weeks now, i thought the neighbours should be adequately aclimatised to the new Ducati noise levels by now, so i thought i would finally fit my little Termis on.

Now, the left has gone on no problemo....despite lots of cuts from the evil sharp edges of the brackets.

But the right is being a complete and utter bitch.
I cant seem to get enough upwards clearance to get it remotely near to slotting in. Meanwhilst, the carbonfibre is being 'nicely' ground away by the bottom on the mounting point bracket!

Grrrr!!
Help...work in progress... but i'm beginning to get very frustrated...

Does anyone have any tips or hints to help me! Preferably before i kick the damn bike over, and go out shopping for R6's.

Anything remotely useful will be much appreciated! ;)

Not that I can be of much help, But I have spent the best part of the day trying to achieve the same thing.

Down pipes all on no problem, I took off the rear pegs to give me more room, and funny enough I found it easier to get the right on, left still to do . .

I am sure there is a simple trick, and somebody out there must know . .

Well its slightly reassuring to know that i'm not the only one battling. :) My fingers are crossed for you 'left'. ;)

Hmmmm.... well my exhaust fits on if i hang it on at 90degrees to the side of the bike. :alien: I could start a new craze! :)

...or perhaps not... :(

What you need to do is take off the seat unit, undo the bottom subframe bolts and lift the subframe at little. This will give you enough space to swing the exhaust into place.

Ditto Desmoboy.

Just remove the two most rearward bolts of the subframe, and loosen the other two, allowing the subframe to pivot up by an inch or two.

I had EXACTLY the same thing when fitting mine.

Don't force it...move the subframe slightly first.

And another tip (I think this originally came from Tim!) when fitting the hangers on with the rubbers, and trying to position them in place, spray the rubber with WD40. It allows them to be moved around on the can, wihout them poping out of the bracket every time they are moved.

I was about to consider the subframe bolts as 'next viable option', however...

After many many many many many many wiggles, and getting a variety of strange looks from the neighbours, i manged to finally get the little bugger to slowly slide into place.

Luckily I am not blessed much 'brute force' talents, otherwise i probably would have just bent it!

However, now they are finally on, they do actually appear to be fairly skew-wiff, to my perfectionist eye :alien: Its all a bit dodgy if you ask me.

However, they're on, so "yey" :sing: I shall complain no more!
