servicing costs !! have to be ducati ??
 

just been quoted £540 for 10k / 12 month service (i knew it was going to be alot but !!!)
planning europe trip soon and in no way do i want to invalidate warranty.
do i have to get bike serviced by official ducati dealer ?
will it invalidate warranty if i don't ?
is this too much for the service ?:(

warranty will be void if you use joe bloggs to do the service.

heard on grapevine that any workshop can service, but must use genuine ducati parts ??!!

Current EU legislation means that any franchised motorcycle workshop can service the bike.
Bear in mind that should you need to make a subsequent warranty claim,you will have to satisfy Ducati UK that the service was completed to the Ducati schedule and specifications and that genuine service parts were used.
I'm not saying that this is impossible, but it will not be straightforward at best.
Sometimes it helps when sorting out warranty issues to have as few barriers to overcome as possible.
In the end, you pays your money & takes your choice.....
Personally, if I've spent the best part of £9k or more, I think that the amount you would save over 3 services would not be a good gamble against needing to make a big warranty claim.

Here`s my two pennys worth,when Chris Clarke M/Cs went down the pan there were quite a few customers with bikes needing servicing to keep up warranties,and the nearest dealers being Italia(Lincoln) or at the time Ron Parkinsons.This meant a two hour trip or more for some to a "official"dealer.
Nine months before Chris Clarke went bust,a certian Carl Harrison left and set up Carl Harrison M/Cs,well to cut a long story short,some of Chris Clarke M/Cs ex-customers refused to travel and got Carl to do there servicing.I asked Carl how this would keep up warranties as you`re are not a official dealer,apparently if the work is carried out by a competent mechanic to a satisfactory standard,using parts of a comparable grade,ie Ducati original parts,according to EEC law this would keep up your warranty.
Now,Ducati(or any other manufacture as it happens) will deny this,but know one who has work done at Carls has had any problem with warranty claims(to the best of my knowledge)and one guy had warranty work done at Carls (before Veloce M/Cs opened)because he refused to travel to the nearest main dealer.
Now I`m not a lawyer(Ruth?)but it would be handy if we new the law on this ;)
