1098 70mm on an 848?

will it go straight on? also heard that if the chip has been used in another bike, it cant be used again, that right?

By Chip do you mean ECU if its the 5.9M ECU thats used on most Ducatis from 2003 onwards they are usually coded to the clocks and those in turn coded to the key, so usually a new uncoded virgin ECU is required or a nemisis ECU, although there are a few places in Europe that will bypass the immobiliser for a Fee

when you get the cans (or in this case system) it comes with performance ecu and high flow filter. So its that ecu - and if thats the case makes a mockery of a 2nd hand system or slipons! Coz DUK want around £900 (allegedly) for a performance ECU  and the original supplied if fitted wont then work on a second bike

is this really right?!

I haven't had any dealings with DP ECUs for post 2002 bikes so don't know if they get coded to your machine or not, it might be a case of never use the Red Master key and they don't code in, or maybe Ducati have it so the DP ones can't be coded in.
No doubt somene from a Ducati dealer will be along soon to explain

means 2nd hand should be dirt cheap then ;)

Ducati did away with the red key type ECU's from the end of 2006.Not sure how the later ECU's are 'paired' with the imobiliser system.A decent dealer would know.

The 1098 race ecu is NOT coded to any particular bike. It can be swapped over as much as you like.

As for the 70mm exhaust from a 1098, it will fit the 848 but I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that the narrower 57mm system works better on the 848, could just be sales **** though to sell more systems !

The ecu's will naturally be mapped differently.
