Assen Track Day

I've just been advised that the Track Day on the Friday of the Assen DD round could have some spaces made available for DSC club members.

As it is unlikely that sufficient space will be made available to us by the Dutch club running the event to allow all DD entrants to use the track day it will not be open to DD riders.

Further details will be released as soon as they are available.

Paul, correct me if im wrong but was there not talk of splitting some of the trackday places into single sessions and shareing them out to the dd'ers?

It may be possible but to avoid a bun fight at this early stage over who would get to use the spaces if not enough were offered to accommodate all the competitors, it was felt best to make sure people realised that some DD'ers wouldn't be able to get an unfair advantage over others. Let's hope that some way of fairly incorporating some DD track time can be organised between now and the event.

just to add on this as it might have an influence on interest for this, - from my recollection of conversations with the Dutch guys they did say that the trackday would be road legal pipes only, and it would be enforced.

I know :sniff: must be getting old but a few times this last year i have thought them too loud!

nathanhu 07-Jan-2006 17:19

ive done a few track days at Assen and all with open pipes
if you buy a set of DB killers just incase, you wont go wrong
even my 999 with a 57mm system is still under the Assen 88Db limit ;)

yes still have the original (dustbin) but just don't have the spare 4 hours to change everything, - and you know if I did I would only want the staintunes back again, - and the bike runs better with them on. Yes it is me getting old ( I know Roy you have a couple of years on me :D ) the thought started when I rode into the office and then a couple of times into work meetings in central London, it just aint very subtle! Where did it go wrong? I am starting to think how my biking image looks and sounds to others, where's that Bergman brochure, anybody got a Sam Browne belt that they don't want?

Henners 07-Jan-2006 21:57

You want a nice VFR800 you do

:lol: :lol::lol::lol:

get lost, VFR my ass, now that's just plain daft, what about one of those BMW's with the roof? They always make me smile when you see the guy in the suit, trousers flaping around his kness sock suspenders on display.

Henners 07-Jan-2006 22:30

You say that now Ian but I bet you'll be riding around on a V4 sports tourer with Ducati on the tank before too long - it's just Honda got there first. Lovely bike ;)

Paul James 08-Jan-2006 21:31

If you were looking for a bike in that category why compromise and go jap, you've got the fantastic ST3 to go on now. Ridden mine quite a bit already since buying it late summer, very good bike !!! blitzes the Viffer in all the reviews. I've approached *onda on three seperate occasions to get a test ride on the Viffer but they seem to be totally disinterested in sorting it.

Henners 08-Jan-2006 22:27

In all honesty Paul why would Honda lend you a press bike :puzzled: I've owned both the ST3 and two VFRs - the 750 and the 800 - and if it wasn't from the ego of wanting a first class sportsbike I'd never have anything other that the VFR800 I own now - it's absolutely everyday real world brilliant :D

Paul James 09-Jan-2006 12:58

Didn't ask for a press bike, just a demo ride (as I actually stated). No intention of starting an argument, just wasn't impressed by their couldn't care less attitude when I gave all my details to the people on the stand at the NEC 2 years in a row asking them (as they were openly offering) to arrange a test ride with my local dealer.

I was merely looking to ride it to give myself a true appreciation of what it was like. I'm glad you like your VFR and can't think what can have been wrong with your ST3 as mine goes like a rocket and is really comfortable.

Sorry, I'm condoning going off topic by replying here. Not intended I assure you.

strange, isnt it?
I had the opposite when looking for my first Ducati in late 2001.
Honda were realy helpful - couldnt do more, talked to ME not hubby, arranged test rides.... Ducati's help was non-existent. Bit of a change since - particularly as i wrote them an abrupt letter regarding the customer service at the NEC that year.
Still brought a ducati tho 5 months later

... it was a good bike but not as smooth, accomplished or as well made as the VFR. It went very well, was comfortable, handled reasonably well, although the brakes weren't brilliant. BIKE magazine gave it a measly 2 stars when tested against the Vtec which got 4 stars - they still rate the ordinary 800 as the best VFR to date and I can't argue.
