How would you take it from here? 1 Attachment(s) Gosh I missed that racing business and all those late nights in the shed  One of the footrest bolts broke in the thread. I have already drilled it to try and extract the rests of it but no luck so far. I do not really want to drill more, as I might start ruining (if not already done  ) the thread. Any idea? |
If you cant get to the back of it matey get a decent drill on it, A sharp one!!!! Then either take it out to just less that he original bolt and re tap it or use an easy out on it |
Where is that on the bike??? its confusing me!!!! |
1 Attachment(s) It's from a rearset hanger. I can access the other end of the bolt but it didn't help. Will try again now that it's been drilled inside. |
Ohh Tony thats looking good, will be nice to see the finished article. |

What do you mean, with the gravels and all that? |
Can you get a stud extractor on the back of the broken bit Tonio? |
I am sure I could, I just did not think about it... :D I have a brand new stud extractor that has never been used. It is so never been used that I completely forgot about it  Cheers guys, will give it a go later :) |
Please don't break the stud extractor in the hole as its a specialist job to get them out. I would not take the risk myself unless the thread is fairly loose. Drill the hole out out in gradually increasind increments until you can pick the threads out. If (like me usually) you don't manage to start exactly in the middle and you damage the threads then you may have to resort to a helicoil. Keith |
thats looking nice! howabout spotwelding something onto the back of the bolt so you can wind it out? |
