Snapped Chain

Anyone ever suffered snapped chain? Flat out towards the end of Hangar Straight @ Silverstone? Adding insult to injury, my mate was riding, fortunately he was unhurt apart from a bruised ankle, and he managed to stay upright, so it could've been a lot worse.
Gory photos to be found here.

Suffice it to say I now need to find:

1 x Generator side engine cover for a 998 motor
1 x chain guard (carbon ones, I've discovered, tend to be of no use ;-) )
1 x LH 57mm Titanium Termi can (unless anyone knows someone who can re-build them?)
1 x 525 chain (not DID - it snapped clean through a link)

Got 2 weeks to sort it before Brands, so any ideas gratefully received.

Cheers,

Hello and welcome sorry to hear of your chain snapping, One or 2 others have had that happen http://www.ducatisportingclub.com/xm...0223#pid188680

mine snapped last week - from pull away @ low speed.
The bike is new to me (first bike) and i dont think the guy who had it before me coulda looked after the small things on it, as the sprocket retainer turned out to be missing.

Ironically i was on my way to pick up a new rear sprocket when it snapped.

I ended up replacing the lot (front and rear sprockets and chain) which is a good thing.

oh and for sheer comedy timing value (i already posted this in the week so sorry for repeating myself) as i stood on the road side getting ready to push home, my gf rang me and dumped me.

Glad your pal wasnt hurt! It really sucks about the damage to your bike!

Yep I had it on my 996 last year Thankfully I stayed on But chain went through crankcase ! I had only been on the bike for about 6 months (2000 miles)

Went for fresh motor as worked out cheapest and quickest fix.

Retainer plate missing is a recall fault on some Ducati's, the ST series especially. My ST2 was missing one.
