996 v 848 v 1198 phew what a day.

Well what a unique day I had at a cold but dry Oulton Park today.

First 2 sessions on the 996. This is just superb, I love it so much and it's getting closer to what I want every time I ride it.

Next session on Italsport's potential 848 challenge bike. This was not that much different than the 996 on power but is so much lighter therefore so much easier to ride and very enjoyable.

Another session on the 996.

Next two sessions on Italsport's 1198 ex Metzeler challenge BSB bike.

Words cannot really describe how fast this bike accelerates. It was a challenge in it'self to hold onto the damn thing along lakeside as I changed gear with the front wheel airbourne and the bike still continued to try and break the sound barrier. Then you hit the brakes, this was like putting a steel bar through the spokes but with loads of control, and then it kicked me in the back again with such a force I struggled to breath in. :o

So...

996, like the 620x2 and on steroids.

848, like the 996 but more refined.

1198, Like the film star you always wanted to make love to. You might get the chance of a ride, but you will never be able to stay on long enough to make an impression.
It should be banned (only after you've had a go).

Great to see to Chaz (he only comes to see Toni ;) )and Paul Kennedy again. :D

Oh and last Sunday at Cadwell had my first taste of using wets. After a shaky start I got to a stage where I would say the grip in the wet is comparable to the DD bike in the dry, kneedown in the wet. WTF how is this possible  but it is. :)

Happy days.

Well she is the good looking one of the duo;)

Good to see you guys, you were looking real smooth out there today mate, you need some balls to jump on one of those big dukes, I think that's what Toni ment with the juggling jester:lol::lol::lol:

DD onto 996/848 was a big enough change for now but easy enough without being too scary. It has made me realise relatively speaking how slow DD is.
1198 another time maybe. It made the start finish at Oulton seem to be about 10 meters long. :o

easy transition tho? Is it as simple as adjusting braking points and being slightly less ham fisted on exit? has Toni have the stopwatch out yet...intrigued as to how much quicker you will be on the 996

No times as yet. The 996 is heavier, taller and takes more effort to steer but is way more planted than the 620. It does spin the rear up if yer not careful and will go light on the front very easily. This is off set a little with better suspension and supercorsa SC1/2tyres. All that in hand it is as I said earlier like the 620x2 and on steroids.

:)
