996 Fuel Pump Doesnt Prime - Help

My 996 fuel pump doesn't prime now when the ignition is turned on. Is there a common issue that causes this, before I start digging about? I haven't done anything at all to the bike since I last rode it.

Cheers
Simon

On my 2000 748 it only primes when the sidestand is up... caught me out for a couple of hours once when trying to get the bike running!!!

try the relay first
other problems have been traced to the through connector in the pump assemble or the fuel pump itself.

Is there a dedicated relay for the fuel pump or is it shared with another circuit?

Its one of the big ones under the riders seat, there are two identical ones next to each other iirc.

I would still permanently bypass the side stand switch Ant mentioned.
Easy job. :)

Nope no alarm.

Thanks for all the responses, will be looking later this week. Prob will bypass the sidestand switch too anyway.
