looking at buying racetecs k2 - feedback please

Hi all

Have been using rennsports for quite a while now, good tyre, but was thinking of the racetecs for a change...

Mainly fast road use, occasional track - dry use only???

I know these have been around for a while now, so the more input the better...

Also, anyone suggest somewhere for a good deal (120f and 180r) k2s

Many thanks in advance
Les

Try dropping a U2U to SimonReed, I'm pretty certain he uses them and swears by them. He runs them on an R1 tho

My hubbies Gixxer 750 race bike has just had some on for the first time. Did Mallory on them a fortnight aga and I was pretty impressed with them, very solid feeling and very grippy.
Don't think I'd bother with them for the road though to be honest.

Any reasons desmojen why not for road...
When i'm on the road I only tend to go scratching anyway.

It's just my personal opinion Les.
I just re-read your first post though and in your case I don't see a problem.
Just be careful if you go out when it's cold!

A good source of cheap Racetecs, especially at this time of year is racers. The pair on our gixxer cost £40 from a friend who races in national superstocks, they'd done one twenty minute practice session and are more than good enough for what we do with them. You will struggle to get 180 rears though since almost all the racers these days are using 190 rears. :)

I get mine off a superstock rider too, he does one session then bins them!

I wouldn't use them if road riding was high on my agenda cos I think they'll just flatten way too quick. Even with my slow road manner I get loads of 'ruffling up' about half across the tyre. Road miles built up very quickly too, so they're not going to last very long.

Never had a problem with them when cold, although most others have.
