Rocker inspection

How difficult is it to pull the cams on a 748 to inspect Rockers?

What's the easiest/quickest way to gain access to them?

I don't see any reference to Rockers in the Haynes Manual and I think its worth checking them.

Also are there different kinds of Rockers available if any do eventually need replacing? Some that would last?

Thanks again

Can't comment on how easy it is to check rockers as the shop did it when I had my belts changed.
Much cheaper to buy in the US - getting on for £90 here, $54 per rocker at Section8superbike, $59 at Ducati Seattle. VAT and import duty works out at around £7 per rocker (if you're lucky the vendor may mark them as low value items),postage $75 with Section8, an amazing $13 with Seattle.
You can get them re-plated and they then should be better than OEM but it sounds a fairly protracted process; MBP seems to be the company usually mentioned.
The general consensus seems to be that good warm-up procedures help a lot in preventing degradation.

Haynes Manual Section 2-11

A bit of advise. You need to pull the rocker arm shafts out only about a half-inch to pull the camshafts, and no more. If you pull them out too far you'll unseat the closing springs and it’s quite difficult to reposition them. A half-inch is all that's needed.

If you find rockers that need replacement then you've got a cost dilemma. Put it back together and let Ducati pay for the parts (and labour if under warranty) or pay for the parts yourself and supply your own labour.

i'm not being funny mate but pullin the cams, checkin rockers, doing the clearances aint a walk in the park. i dont know your mechanical ability but if your needing help removing a bolt from a clutch i suggest leaving well alone. its got to be right and if your not sure leave it to someone else. if you think you can do it and have got the time download a ducati manual and have a go, there is plenty of people on here can help if your stuck, especially the first week of june!
