Rear Sub Frame - Thread Size

Anyone know the correct thread size of the bolts which thread the pillion grab rails into the boss on the rear sub-frame.

I am just rebuilding bike (with Sparkins lovely single seat unit) and the tapped holes in the rear sub-frame are a bit furry and full of crap. Need to re-tap the threads to allow me to put in a support rail (threaded bar with foam pads) in place of the grab rails.

I would go out into the garage to measure them up on my Strada, the trouble is that my 888 is garaged at Fordie's place which is about 15 miles from where I live....

I'm sure somebody who knows what they're talking about will be along in a minute.

I think they are M8?

Have a look at the bolt that goes in there. If it's a cap head, a 5mm key means M6 thread, 6mm key means M8.
If it's a hex head, 10mm means M6 and a 12mm or 13mm means M8.

M8X1.25 on mine, but having put the foam/threaded bar in,the seat unit was way above. So all I needed was to cover the back rail. All these aftermarket seats vary, but just a thought.
