Throttle body setup Hi Guys, I've just been cleaning the throttle body off my T8 Strada and noticed I don't have any air-bleeds. I assume that these little beasties were added when they added the 'choke' (which mine also doesn't have). I guess that makes it easier to set it up but it also means my workshop manual is of indeterminate usage for this bit  If I ignore the references to using the air bleeds then I reckon I need to do the following; (I) Set the TPS to give 150mV with the throttle stops backed off (2) Wind the throttle stop on Horizontal cyl to open the throttle to give 300mV. (3) Adjust Vertical cylinder throttle adjuster so it just touches its stop (4) Warm engine and balance the vacuums using the throttle synch adjuster (5) Adjust tickover by turning the two throttle stop screws the same amount (6) Recheck balance Does that sound right? Thanks, Keith |
Looks good from here |
Thanks Rob. Its nice to be putting things back on the bike but it might be a while before I get around to the "starting the engine bit". Those exhaust pipes still need a good polish before they can go back (I'm hoping I can bribe the kids). Keith |
Polishing pipes is a labour of love. It's one of those jobs I'd prefer to leave to someone else as well. WRT to bleeds; I noticed that the my later bodies don't seem to have 'em either. |
Thats interesting as my (Ducati) manual clearly shows them so I assumed most T8's had them. Oh well, I guess all these changes help to keep us all on our toes. Keith |
Keith, mine are from a late 996 engine. |
the very first 888's had 851 type throttle bodies which were accompanied by a p7 computer. when the p8 was introduced the later throttle bodies were introduced at the same time (with air bleeds). this can't be taken as gospel however as i know of one instance where a mate has a p7 with the late throttle bodies. typical ducati i guess.:sing: |
