748

Hi everyone
Need some sugestions please, i've just sold my fazer, and i want to get a 748 wich i love and also suit my budget , i would like to know some running costs, minor service, major services etc.. and also i much would expect to pay for a late 748 with about 7k miles.
Thanks in advance
:puzzled:

mate .. outside of warranty i'd reckon on £450 for a 6k service (with belts) and about £750 for a full 12k service (with belts), I personally get my belts done each service, for the cost its a worthwhile protection ....

other than that its tyres and insurance and thats as much about you and the way you ride as it is about the bike ....

I reckon £4500 would see you a mint 748 bip ....

happy hunting

Hello dino, Dibble's pretty much right with the charges, although some specialists may be cheaper.

Whereabouts are you, maybe we could steer you to a nearby specialist for servicing advice, although you're probably better off buying the bike private it's always good to know who's recommended in your neck of the woods.

Can't comment on servicing costs as I've not had the pleasure but I do intend to do all my own servicing, mainly because I want to learn more about the bike and get more from doing things myself.

I got my bike a couple of months ago for £4750, thats for a 2001 748E, with 6500 miles on the clock.

Good luck with it all and let us know if/when you get it.

had a 748bp and now a 749s.

Minor service around £250 with major service £350, this included belts, brake fluid, coolant and normal service items.

Do I smell a free drink in here?

Mmmm, my favourite type :D

Whatever you get, make sure it's had the cams out and the rockers inspected recently - or budget for some replacements! Ask the owner to start it for you and watch to see whether he revs it etc before it gets warm. If he does and the cams haven't been out - walk away, there's plenty more.

For that advice, I charge a LARGE glass of Wolf Blass Yellow Label Cab Sauv.

Or two ...

Cheers :D
