Loss of power?

:( Anyone have an idea about why my 996 loses power at speed when excellerating further and not sounding very good at the same time?
It's confusing, as it idles fine without missing a beat.

Possible blocked fuel filter.

 Thanks, but someone suggested getting the valve clearances checked, although there are no Ducati dealers in my local area. (Swindon, Wilts.)

As Neil says, possibly fuel filter,
be worth checking belt tension, clearances as suggested, TPS, Injector blockage, plugs, coils etc etc.

Plugging into a diagnostic should reveal if any of the sensors are playing up.

Louigi Moto is down the M4 by Bristol and now Reading has a Ducati Dealership just off the M4.

What sort of service history does it have, whats its mileage, when were filters last replaced and the belts and when were clearances last checked.

Thanks, it's in for an interim service next week, the belts were changed last year, I've had the bike 3 years but only put on 1500 miles although the mileage is 20000 and have not had the valve clearances checked yet, they have been before I aquired it.
