Best way to lower a 996?
 

As the missus is eyeing up the 996`s these days, we`re thinking what the best way to lower one would be, I know you can drop it a little with the ride height adjuster bar, but can you get them any lower?

Answers on a postcard please !!

not sure how much adjustablity there is in them. a ride height agjuster from somewhere like jhp may have more.

easy enoigh, and you get get them pretty low!! Best get a suspension guy to do it tho or check after...

if you need more, you can reverse the ecc hub and this will drop another inch or so at the back, but handling will be affected, had this on mine but chnaged it back

if I/you/she make the next Berks meet, come and try mine its about as low as any I have seen/tried and still handles ok (now its sorted!!) or are you at Boxhill/surrey ride Sunday??

I have an adjustable ride height adjuster that is now surplus to requirements having now got mine set up as i like it.

I'm told that these adjusters also allow a small reduction in ride height, as well as the ability to increase.

You're welcome to try it if you get another 996, if it does the job its yours for £20, if it doesn't give it back.

Bradders, we would love to see how low your 996 is, dont think we`ll make Box hill, but defo a Berkshire meet.

If its not going to be used two up a softer spring can be used to get a bit more loaded sag (we've done this on a SS but not a 996 yet), a 60 profile tyre also loses a bit more height at the front end, there are also shocks with buit in ride height adjusters but thats a rather exspensive route to go compared to a different ride height adjusting bar. All the little tweeks add up.

At one of the Oxon/Berks meets we were looking down the line of 996s etc and noticed how much lower Bradders appeared to sit compared to mine and Keefers, obviously Keefer can run his as high as he wants and still be flat footed when sat on it, but even mine I can sit flat footed on and I only have a 29 1/2 inch inside leg and as I say Bradders is noticeably lower.

Before you lower either end, take some measurements as a datum. Lower both front and rear by the same amount and the handling shouldn't go too far away.
I'd wind the rear down first as low as it'll go, then take the front down by the same amount.
You'll lose ground clearance, but that's not a great issue with the 996.
