Hi guys from Sleaford.

Hi guys. Hope everyone is well. Hate to make my first post a rather miserable one but a week ago my wife accidentally reversed her car into my beautiful 748 sat on the drive. (we are still married, JUST)Any how the old girl was knocked off the sidestand and went down pretty hard on the concrete. I had some corse style non folding rearsets fitted to the bike and the impact has clean bust the mounting lugs off the left side of the frame.I was wondering/ praying that someone on here may have an old 748/916 frame sat in the garage collecting dust? Paint condition doesn't matter as long as its straight and undamaged.Cheers all.Adam

Why not just get the old ones welded back on?
Much easier and less hassle with paperwork?

Hi mate. Welding them back on is a possibility.
Trouble is im the guy all my biker mates take the mickey out of because im so anal about the thing. I wont make excuses i just wouldnt be happy knowing the frame had been "repaired"

I Agree with Ant, there are some very good welders about, have a word with Italia in Lincoln, they will recommend a welder. When my wife dropped her monster, they had a painter re do the frame, you could not tell it had been down the road, there was also a small amount of welding done, again you would not know it had been done.
Also if you changed the frame, the insurers would want to know what had happened :(
I wll pop a couple of pics up when I get onto my computer later to show before and after pics.

You'd be surprised how well a competent welder could finish the job, and with a decent painter you'd never know it had been done.

If it was a Japanese frame with robotic welding I would think different, but Ducatis are hand made so there's no reason why it can't be hand made again!
