front forks

hi guys my rear end is looking great but my front needs some attention, the forks are knackered and i need some replacments / 94 strada.
what other forks will fit from the ducati range 900 moster ??
any ideas

Jools 03-Dec-2006 15:41

Said similar on another thread. Knackered in what way? Cosmetically? No damping? In my view it would probably be a lot easier to have them refinished/rebuilt/revalved by a decent suspension tech than buy yet another set of forks to faff about with - after all, there is no guarantee that the new forks wouldn't need fettling either

when i was striping them the two bottom pinch bolts were cross threaded and got one out but the next one was solid and the botton part of the fork has broke so i either need a new slider and a rebuild or second hand forks and take a chance.
i think the forks on the 900 ss old type are the same they look like the ones on my superlight.
anybody have any info??

Yep,pretty sure the Showa forks on the carbed SS's are the same as 851/888.

yes, the 900SS ones are the same as the showa equiped 851's and the 888 strada. if you can get a pair off a later model SS, as in 96 and 97 being the last of the old shape, i think they are the same as the sp5 ones. these are a darker colour with brown, not silver fork bottoms.
don't bother with monster ones, the first models were unadjustable and the later ones were a lower quality adjustable (apparently)

i called dealers today and new sliders are £300 each so i will need second hand hope some one will come up with a set i have put up a call on the SS forum as well and will have to keep a eye on e bay .the number posted above for the set on ebay look diffrent to what i want.
i wonder of i could get a cheep pair from a monster and get my iners and top parts fitted together??

Graham
When I rebuilt my 93 Strada I bought a pair of sliders from 'ceepeedee' (I think) on ebay from Germany. I got them for around £70 each and rebuilt the forks myself using some home made tools, dead easy and will save you a fortune. I'm pretty sure they have an ebay shop so worth a look.

Hi Graham,

My 900ssie forks fit straight onto my 600ss as do the 620s ones, 620 monster ones, 750ssie too.... Try to find a set of 900ssie forks, there probably the best option and get them serviced with new oil & seals if needed, thats all I did to my 600ss ones on the race bike and they're really good, although we cant use the 900 adjustables :(
