888 Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) help!

Help!

My 851 is now a 888 and I want to run it in over the Easter weekend but the TPS is playing up and it seems that a new one is a) £220 and b) may not be available any more :(

Does anyone have any idea if anything from the Ford or Fiat range that used P7/P8 ECUs is compatible, please?

Cheers, Paul

is it different from the 748/916 one then Paul as I should have one on a set of 748 throttle bodies.
Senna3 probably has some fiat ones at work, it wouldn't suprise me if they were the same.

as for TPS problems I snapped one of the screws holding the one on my DD bike this morning as it was seized as is the other one.
Looks Like I may be having a fun filled day or two over easter trying to sort them out

Have a look at www.Ducati851and888.com. Click on Technical, scroll down to " Which Pc/Power commander" by Mr R [ Steve ]. He mentions something about a TPS from a Ford Cosworth 4x4 at 80pounds new being the same item. Hope this helps

The TPS (1) is the usual Non Linear part used on all 4V Desmoquattro engines, although the early 851 models have red bodies TPS. As far as I know, they are functionally identical to the black bodied part shown. You can also see, in the above photo, that the TPS connector is at the top of the TPS (1). This is how all the P7 ECU TPS are fitted, for some reason. Later ones have the connector at the bottom. The flat section on the throttle shaft the TPS (1) locates on defines the orientation.

Paul, The TPS is the same on 851, 888, 748, 916, 996, ST4, ST4S. Plenty to choose from to find a spare ;)

Cheers guys.

I've found a set of 916 throttle bodies with TPS in the garage so they're down at Motorapido now.

www.mmcompsys.com list the PF09 TPS as well as other goodies, too.

Paul
