Pirelli Diablo Corse\'s - anyone tried them?
 

Did a search but nothing under Diablo (probably got the spelling wrong!!)

I've got them fitted to my 748R. They are a big step forward from the Evo corsa's and they were GREAT. Go get them fitted, you will love them!

Just had them fitted to my 996 in anticipation of the Mallory track day in July. I'll be scrubbing them in this afternoon so I'll post my findings tonight.

First impression ... they look like cut slicks compared to the old Dragon Evos !

OK ... put 200 miles on these puppies today and I'm impressed.

The Diablo Corsas have a super sticky compound and warm up VERY fast. The surface of the tyre shows some (graining like the debris from a pencil eraser) but I guess this is normal for a compound of this type. I don't expect to get many miles out of the rear, but then that's not the point is it !

There is no tread pattern in the centre of the tyre so you're effectively on a slick when the bike is upright. Should be interesting in the wet.

I use a 190 rear at 34 Psi and the bike steers quickly. I imagine a 180 would steer even quicker ?

I paid £79 for the front and £120 for the rear. Be interested to know if you can source them cheaper.

Just normal Pirelli Diablos recently fitted on my 748 replacing 010's, but am so far impressed on the road.:roll:

I'm probably going to get flamed for this one, but here goes anyway.

I've always gone for ultra-sticky Pirelli rubber on my road-only bikes, and I'm completely p***ed off with wasting a back tyre in 1500 miles.

When I picked up my 998S last year, it was fitted with a Dragon Evo rear plus an Evo Corsa front. For road riding, I couldn't perceive any difference in grip coming out of bends, but decided to put on an Evo Corsa on the rear at renewal time. Guess what - 900 miles and it was completely square.

So a few weeks ago I noticed Edinburgh Kawasaki's offer of £145 for a pair of Diablo's (not Corsa) fitted, and I can honestly say I think these are, for road-only use absolutely ample in terms of grip, on a bike pushing out 142bhp at the rear wheel.

That must be quite a tasty 998S if its putting out 142 at the rear, that more than chillos 998R! :lol:

Matt748 - I've got 010's on at the moment - are diablo's better??

Looking for a bit more stability mid corner (no doubt at the expense of the turn in speed!)

To be honest Chris, I doubt that I'm anywhere near talented enough to give you a proper evaluation between the two, but I'll say this: Having done about 500 miles on them, they are still looking very good, turn in rate seems about the same as 010's, and I haven't had any grip problems including some wet riding. They do seem to give more feedback though, as in I seem to be feeling a bit more whats going on down there.

Overall, they came 3rd out of six, with Dunlop D208 in 2nd, and Michelin Pilot Sport in 1st (both also with a total score of ****.
Incidently, I only had them fitted because my tyre fitter shop had no 010's left (I've always run Bridgestones), but I'm well chuffed with them so far. Hopefully they will be OK for Brands Indy circuit.:o
