2nd Bike Problem

I've just bought a new bike (yay!) and can get my existing insurance changed to cover the new machine at a reasonable cost.

However, I also wanted to insure my current bike for about 1 month, just while I am in the process of putting it back to close to original spec and selling it. Unfortunately my insurer (brokered through Premium Choice) will only add a second bike to my policy for a full 12 months and at considerable extra cost.

Any ideas how/where I can get my 2nd (older) bike insured for just a month? I really don't want to leave this bike uninsured, even if I am not riding it during this month.

Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

What's the new one Phil, have you left the 2V club?

Most certainly not! I couldn't imagine it.....

I've bought a 2002 900ss (with the Marchesini wheels and less than 5k on the clock) to upgrade from my 1999 750ss.

Picking her up tonight and photos will be forthcoming shortly.

I stuck with Premium Choice in the end.

So, my original premium for the 1999 750ss was £465 - with £400 excess, 4 years protected no claims, legal and UK breakdown cover.

To change this so that my main bike is the new 2002 900ss, but keeping the 750ss on the policy (I only wanted it for a month, but had to take it for a year) cost an additional £236.

Not the end of the world I guess, as it is overall still cheaper than when I first insured the 750ss in 2003.

An additional £236...Yaargh!,thats the same as the quote I had for three bikes before deciding to buy a new one.
When I got my first additional bike quote I had the 916 and wanted to add a 96 750ss....it cost me £15 on top, still got both of those and renewed my premium yesterday with a brand new S2R added...£315 for the lot.

granted I'll probably live in a cheaper rated area but they've got to be worth a try.

thats a good price dave

my 748 was £425 f.c. with a claim and ban against my name so your price of 436 plus the extra is way off

bradders 08-May-2005 21:34

certainly is, I pay c£60 for my 600 monster and 500 for my sps, 1yr no claims only! both on same policy with insuremyducati
