Whats the Differances between a 749bip & a 749s ?

Don't think there is a 749Bip, as such, since you can get both the 749 and the 749S in both double and single seat versions (Bip & Mono) and the seating arrangement is about the only difference so a 749Bip and a 749mono share exactly the same engine and suspension spec. Likewise the 749SBip and 749SMono.

Main differences between the 749 and 749S is that the S has uprated suspension components and on 2004 bikes the S has 110Bhp instead of 102 - prior to that the engines were the same so the pre 2004 749 & 749S are both 102Bhp

There are other variants. The luscious R, with top notch suspension and 116Bhp and at the other end of the scale, the 'Dark' which is the entry level model and just lacks the steering damper and (allegedly) the rear ride height adjuster (although in photos of the bike it still looks as if the ride height adjuster is there)

Nice post Jools.
For your extra fahsahnd pahnds for the "S" you get,TiN coated forks,Showa rear shock, adjustable steering rake,7 or 8 more bhp and slightly higher gearing.
If you are not bothered about all that stuff then the base 749 is a good buy.You could put the 'spare' grand on a Termi system and claw back some of the missing BHP.
The Dark model is a budget version of the 749 with matte black paint,no steering damper and a non adjustable ride height.
Yup,the rod is there.but it is'nt adjustable.
If you want all the bells and whistles there can be only one,...............the 749R!

NB,you can do a comparision between the models on the Ducati website.
