Yes, I like it too - my 999 does look unique - there's been plenty of comparisons of what the 1098 looks like (to me its a bit Honda CBR600-ish), but the 999 just doesn't look like anything...

I had same problem with paint peeling off edge of old covers. You'll need to use the rubber seal from inside the old cover.

I had the same problem with my fluid reservoir covers. You need these anodised ally covers from http://www.carbon-trader.com/cnc-999.htm. Easy to fit (you use the existing rubber seal) and work well.

Halfords do a 1/2 inch drive socket in their impact socket range. Works fine. You'll need a bloody big extension bar to get the nut off the first time though...
