I had mine powder coated. Superb job, very tough and look the mutts, many years later, no chips no marks and easy to wipe grime off. Had mine done in Edenbridge Kent.

good point. I left mine in then carefully using a craft knife trimmed the powder coating off the wheel, the coating is fairly flexible so does not crack like paint.

I think it is the Showa forks tbh my 916 does it and so does my MV Agusta. If you apply slight pressure on the bars and rock them you get a clonk it is the fork springs/internals IMHO.
