Mine did that years back. Turned out to be a crack in the bottom yoke, Uner hard breaking it opened up andallowed the for to actually move in the yoke. Check around the clamp bolts real carefully....

By taking them apart do you mean removing the actual lens. If so you will have to replace the lens using silicon or a similar sealing compound, this will outgas and could cause the misting....

If you push the metal clips in on the tank side fuel does not come out. They purely retain the male fitting once pushed in to place. It is best to push these in as you fit the connector as it moves...

Got SPS cast disks on mine with EBC HH pads and have noticed some slight wear after 12k miles. I expect they will need changing at 30k+ miles.......
Still ace in the dry and awful in the wet.
