Good morning all,

After 17 years of ownership I’m seriously pondering selling the old gal as I rarely get the time to go out to play these days (and when I do I tend to opt to take the RMz to the...

Thanks guys.

I'll use one of your recommendations. Probably will have to be next month now as I've just been presented with an invoice for my daughters ballet tuition fees.

Hi,

The rear Ohlins on my 748sp has started weeping so I'm looking at a service/rebuild. Anybody got any recommendations about where to go - or not to go? I've been looking at Brooks...

Grease for slipper clutch

Hey folks,

Long time, no speak. Been busy having kids, moving house and stuff.

Anyway; can anyone recommend a cheaper (but just as good) alternative to Molycote D321R for greasing the ramps on my...

OK guys - Thanks for your words, and now for an update:

Question OK. What just happened here?

Good morning team.

I replaced the battery on the old girl last week (she's a 2 phase SP, if it makes a difference). I took her out for a spin yesterday evening and after I got back home she refused...

Yeah, well... that's what I'd initialy thought (or tried to convince myself), but I tried the gauge on the old belts before I took them off (2.5 each) and on an engine that's just been rebuilt and...

Help with belt tensioning guage - please.

Replaced the belts on my SP at the weekend.

The snag was getting the tension correct. Got the right gauge and wound the belt up to 11, then down to 2.5 before holding it there while the ajuster...

Finally got a reply from Gates. They say that whilst the dimensions are the same, the composition is a little different.

The way it was written suggested that I should steer clear of the car ones -...

Yeah, maybe. I was under the impression that Gates won't sell you a belt and say it's for a Ducati. The belt may be identical to another application (Renault's mostly) in size, construction and...

Bought myself a pair of belts in preparation for neil748r (c'mon sunshine, you know you want to try out your new guage) to do the business.

I was told to buy the Gates ones and the part number I...

It's a '96 748SP with 12K (miles) on the clock. I've had it 2 years, kept on top of the maintenance, done 6K gentle(ish) miles and it's never missed a beat up 'till now.

As I mentioned before, it...

Thanks, but I'm pretty sure the clutch is fine. It still does it (albeit somewhat quieter) when the engine isn't running by rocking the bike backwards & forwards to get it through the gears.

I've...

Noisy gearshifting

Afternoon guys.

Has anybody out there ever had their gearbox make a loud 'clunk' (like a stone hitting your bellypan) when they're going up the box? How loud is it, I hear you ask. Difficult to...
