Cut off the alternator wires close to where they come out of the l/h case and cut off the wires close to the rectifier and replace with new wires & bullet connectors.

FYI - finally sorted out by Snells in Alton...

FYI - finally sorted out by Snells in Alton (excellent service by them), the problem was caused by a fault with the alarm and not the pump or relay.
