I have allways found autoglym road grime & bug remover is the best thing for getting the wheels clean but just plain old soap and water for the panels:)

I have just had the exact same problem and i can tell you it's been driving me mad:(

But i think i've sorted the problem now and it turned out to be the fuel pump relay had corroded but i am warning...

cant think who mentioned the fuel pump relay behinde the battery cover getting corroded but 4 fecking hour's it took with a couple of tea brakes of course;) but...
