Oxford Humpback Throwovers work quite well on a 998 - I've done 2 trips to Italy with these and they're far more stable than a tailpack as the weights lower down and therefore causes less wobble...

I've not done one on a Ducati, but the wet clutch on the Mille didn't need the oil drained before the change - just rest the bike on the side stand and all the oil sits below clutch level...
