true, the early SBK rules dictated the mufflers had to be attached in two positions (wtf???) but that was changed later on. my spaghetti has std road nozzles so i guess they came with all sorts.

from what i've seen there are SP3 and SP4 models, the SPS and SP5 though are hotter still. and that's where the emissions trouble is. doesn't mean nobody imported one privately though...

yes, the 900SS ones are the same as the showa equiped 851's and the 888 strada. if you can get a pair off a later model SS, as in 96 and 97 being the last of the old shape, i think they are the same...

if the pin to deck height is different i'd say you have pistons for a 916. they are the same diameter and very close to the 888 ones but for the pin/deck height. as the others have said, the best way...
