Some times the graunching sound - especially when setting off - is because some of the plates are inserted the wrong way around.
There is a dot on the steel plates - but don't recall if they should face up or inwards!
Had a Sigma Slipper clutch which was juts fine thank you.
You need to stack them correctly too - your local dealership can advise - and the last I had was a replacement pack from an 748r on a bip and all is well.

To get the correct depth - you'll need a verner caliper too - www.screwfix.com
