Regarding the 'rev limit' your mate used when riding your bike. I've a bog-standard late model 888 Strada, and when it's fitted with its race cans I'd swear it pulls harder up to 9000rpm than the SP. It's certainly more responsive to the throttle in the mid-range. The SP only gives its best in the higher ranges. (Mind you, all things are relative. I'm not suggesting the SP lacks torque - only that your mate missed out on the real fun!)
