The other thing to watch is the depth of the spring pockets. Generally they are deeper on a slipper clutch. Using a normal cover or an aftermarket one can lead to spring bind, limiting the amount the plate is able to lift. The 1098 has lighter and slightly longer springs which can make it worse.
You can space the caps off, but as a rule, i'd only use a plate designed for a slipper
