Know someone who did the same. 2 options. Mask the chasis number before you have it powder coated, then remove the masking after powder coating and clear laquer the area.

Option 2, have it powder coated and don't worry about it.

As for the finish, it will come back smooth. Powder coating covers a lot of surface defects.

What ever happens don't worry about it.
