What are the three methods of adjusting in the manual you are referring to? If you are referring to compression, rebound and preload, then no, dont just tighten them all up! I cant think of anything else it says in the manual about adjusting the rear shock?
I dont think that the rear shock should really move from side to side, but the whole unit can be rotated slightly if you try and twist the reservoir, but its not a significant amount. How much can you move your shock?
Have you checked the top and bottom mounting points to make sure that they are correctly tightened and haven't worked loose?
