Just come back from dyno run on the 996R

it made 132.5bhp and 72.2 ft lbs torque compare to
my old SPS 120 bhp and 71.1 ft lbs of torque on the same dyno. Having said that the dyno curves on both bikes were pretty similar except that the SPS has a distinct advantage between 6500 & 7500 rpm and the R only really shoots ahead from 8750 rpm in both both powee and torque.

However these figures are qouted on the STD scale which is about 2% up on the EC measurement. The dyno operator always uses the higher reading because it 'pleases' people more.

More realistically different dyno produce different readings so it doesn't really compare with Rays results as i'm sure the 998R engine should produce a little bit more power, unless of course the air filter situation that Ray refers to is having a detrimental effect.
