| steve, i left my datatool unplugged for about 3 months once... the chirping stopped when the internal battery run dead (as it would!) but had no probs at all bringing it back to life when reconnecting the bikes battery.
I'll ask my datatool contact tomorrow (today!) if it might be a problem but it wasn't for me. will post again with more info.
