He didn't know it was stolen for sure (guy may have binned it or something) but the fact that the ignition has been drilled (as can be seen in the pic) kind of gave him that suspicion, hence he reported it.

Yes, he did give them the reg plate and the datatag number off the bike and told them about the ignition. He didn't want to move the bike in case of prints or anything else that could be taken from it.

But, as above, all that is irrelevant now as it's gone again!
