Having worked for Castrol, I'd be more than happy with their R&D and "experience". You don't get much better than 100+ years at the top of your game. Add that to most Ducati owners manuals stipulating 10w/40 as the oil grade that meets the biggest operating temperature range, then I'd safely say 10w/40 from Castrol is ok. Don't be sucked in by Shell being stated as the only oil for ducati's etc. That part comes down to who pays the most or is most in favour at the time, not who's necessarily the "best" or only choice.
