Did they stop doing the 749s as a bip then? I have a 2003 749s bip so you can have both. in that year, the 's' had TiN forks, not sure if much else. From 2004 though (as I have just been RELIABLY informed today) the 749s shared the valve retaining mechanism with the 749R. That means a much longer (read: expensive) service if clearances need adjusting. The 749 from 2004 doesn't have that. Kinda puts me off trading up to a later 749s, even though there was a load of engine mods to give a power hike in 2004.
